Happy Hanukkah Mug Rug

Hanukkah starts this Thursday, 10th December 2020 and I have the perfect mug rug for this special occasion – my Celebration Candles mug rug.

I like this night-time version, which makes the light from the candles seem even brighter:

But the menorah candles shine all day too:

And if you are looking to undertake a project during this period of reflection and gratitude then you could always hand-stitch your own version ready for 2021:

Happy Hanukkah to everybody across the world.

Christmas Mug Rugs

Christmas will be here whether we are ready or not.  An hour or two spent in the sewing room may bring a little bit of calm to the season whilst also giving you the opportunity to create a lovely little gift out of little more than scraps.

A mug rug is the perfect handmade gift to give this season.  And I have twelve seasonal mug rugs that are just right for Christmas (and one or two are good all year round).

First up is my Mug Rug Alphabet.  This pattern is good for making a named mug rug or creating the perfect hostess gift. (This is an indispensable all-year-round patterns featured.)
Mug Rug Alphabet

Take a break from card writing with either design from my Christmas Delivery mug rug pattern - both designs are included in this $2.50 pattern:

Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without a reindeer or two.  This pattern is one of ten from my Christmas Mug Rugs book - available in PDF format via Etsy or via Amazon.

When wrapping gifts how about popping this fun mug rug into the gift bag as an extra little touch (also from my Christmas Mug Rugs book and another all-year-round pattern):

Prepare for Hanukkah (beginning on Sunday 22nd December this year) or use up some of those festive charm squares with the time-saving Celebration Candles mug rug.  (This pattern will come in handy whenever a birthday or special day arises throughout the coming year.)

And don't forget the holly wreath for the hall table to match the wreath on the door.  This pattern is from my new book 'Christmas on the Side' which enables you to create many mug rugs using any 6" block.

The next two mug rug designs are also from the Christmas on the Side pattern book - the Penguin Stack sidebar with nine-patch block (one of six blocks included in the book):

And a baubles sidebar paired with a decorated Christmas Tree applique block (also included in the book):

This is just a taster of some of the mug rug patterns I have designed specifically for the Christmas season.  Unsure which to choose?  Then grab one of my two pattern books (Christmas Mug Rugs or Christmas On-the-Side) and you are sure to find a design to suit everybody.

Twelve Mug Rugs of Christmas - Day Nine - Personalised Mug Rug

I cannot think of one Gran in the whole wide world who wouldn’t love to receive a handmade gift at Christmas.  Nor Mother, Father, friend or relative either.

And when you are finished making Christmas gifts from Christmas charm squares with my Mug Rug Alphabet pattern you can whip up a skinny table topper for the Christmas table.
I traced the letters onto fusible webbing so that they were touching each other.  I then cut out 'Christmas' all as one piece.

The Mug Rug Alphabet pattern is available as an individual pattern.  It comes with three full sets of alphabets so you will never be stuck for personalising a last-minute gift. You can find it with all my other patterns in my Etsy Store.

Twelve Mug Rugs of Christmas - Day 8- JOY Mug Rug

JOY TO THE WORLD .....
They say that a small action in one part of the world can have consequences in another, far-away place.
I don’t know if it is true but today I am going to spread joy to each and every person I meet - be it a smile, a coin in a collection pot, a kind word, a compliment or a mug rug gift.
And with each deed I will send a silent prayer of peace out into the world.

Joy and Gingerbread Bunting

The sun is shining, the garden is blooming and there’s not a cloud in the sky.  July is the perfect month to think about ....... Christmas!  Yep, you heard right.  Warm, relaxed, summer days, or evenings, are the perfect time to complete a little Christmas project – something quick and easy that will give you a sense of being ready for the end of year festivities.

Christmas Delivery Mug Rug Pattern

Of course, there are always mug rugs to make - perfect for gifts, table decorations and wall art.  Mug rugs are ideal for sending through the post (lightweight and small), for batch making for colleagues at work and for using up some of those scraps left over from a larger project.
But if you fancy something a little bit different then how about stringing up some yuletide bunting with the 'JOY' bunting pattern.

This pattern is very simple, very quick and very effective - all you need is one charm pack, a length of ribbon and my free Joy Bunting PDF pattern.

Of course bunting isn’t just for Christmas – change the word and you can hang it for birthdays, Easter, weddings, anniversaries, Halloween – even JULY!

You could always create bunting using the cheeky Gingerbread men from my Gingerbread Cup mug rug pattern.

You can download the FREE pattern HERE.  The pattern gives you have two delicious methods for making the gingerbread men - you can fuse these little chaps for a neat, firm finish or stitch them together with a frayed edge for a rustic look.

Whether you prefer hand or machine stitching – these guys will always turn out sweet and whilst I hope you buy my Gingerbread Cup mug rug pattern for the gingerbread man template – you really don’t have to – a cookie cutter would work just as well.

I’m not the only one sharing Christmas joy this month though - seven days with seven projects - check out the schedule of the 'Christmas in July' blog hop so you don't miss a thing.
