The Patchsmith's Union Jack Block

Patchsmith's Union Jack Block Pattern
Sometimes you just need a little bit bigger.  So it was with my block for the Farm Girl Vintage sew-along this week.  I am making the 6" blocks for the Farm Girl sampler quilt and this week’s block is the Old Glory Block – the American Flag.  It is a stunner.

This 'glorious' block is courtesy of the Fat Quarter Shop

But I’m a Brit and I want my quilt to reflect that so I have created a new Union Jack Block pattern to create a 6" and a 12" square patchwork block.

If you want to do the same I have created a new pattern just for you - the Union Jack Block and Runner pattern.  This pattern includes instructions to make a 6" and a 12" Union Jack block together with easy-to-follow directions to make this stunning table runner.

    1. Thank you Susie. You know I like value for money so to get extra use out of a pattern pleases me no end. Better get on with more blocks for my runner.

    1. Thank you Elaine. I love the Old Glory block too and will have to find a way to fit them both into my Farm Girl Sampler. I don't know how yet as it might mean I need to leave a block out somewhere and I love them all. Decisions, decisions!

  3. Glorious block!!!! I don't think you would need to leave any blocks out of you chose 4 flags in place of 4 simple stars, for example. I think you should use both flags somehow, as our American sister. I do love how you've used that Feed Company print in the block!

    1. I love that Feed Company fabric - it is my new fave (thank you xx). And I will include both in the sampler quilt - on the same row - they just work so well together - just like us.
